Hennessey Performance has worked its magic on Dodge’s greatest and most brutal vehicle: the SRT Demon. As everyone knows by now, the Demon is an 840 hp monster that was created with drag racing in mind. The American tuning company, though, thought it could improve on the performance front, so it increased the output to 1,000 horses.
The Demon is an impressive machine even in stock form. Thanks to its 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 and street-legal Nitto drag radials, the muscle car can get to 60 mph in 2.3 seconds. And for drag racers, the vehicle can complete the quarter-mile in just 9.65 seconds.
Hennessey wanted more, and began playing around with a HPE1000 package for the SRT Demon. A week ago, the company released a video of a dyno run. The vehicle they strapped onto the machine was its HPE1000 Demon and, as you can see below, the car put down 880 hp (892 PS) and 806 lb-ft (1,092 Nm) of torque.
Watching the HPE1000 Demon sprint down the drag strip is a treat, but hearing it while it does its thing is no less entertaining.
